Journal of Systematics and EvolutionJournal of Molecular Evolution副主编及JIPB编委。

Zhong Bojian‌ is a professor, doctoral supervisor, and dean at the School of Life Sciences, Nanjing Normal University. He is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars and Jiangsu's "Climbing Project." He earned his Bachelor of Science from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) in 2007, a Master's degree from Fudan University in 2010, and a Ph.D. from Massey University, New Zealand, in 2014. Since October 2014, he has served as a professor at Nanjing Normal University and is currently the dean. His long-term research focuses on plant evolutionary genomics and adaptive evolution, particularly on the origin, colonization, and diversification of green plants. He has published multiple papers in journals such as Nature Communications and Current Biology.

He has been awarded the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars, the Wu Zhengyi Award for Innovation in Botany, the Jiangsu Youth Science and Technology Award, and the Wei Zhiming Youth Innovation Award. He has also been selected as an academic leader in Jiangsu's "Qinglan Project" and a high-level talent in the "Six Talent Peaks" program.

Zhong Bojian also holds concurrent positions as a director of the Botanical Society of China, deputy director of the Committee on Plant Taxonomy and Systematic Evolution, and vice chairman of the Jiangsu Botanical Society. He serves as an associate editor for Journal of Systematics and Evolution and Journal of Molecular Evolution, and an editorial board member for JIPB. He has presided over national and provincial research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China and Jiangsu's "Climbing Project." He has been frequently invited to deliver academic lectures on topics such as "Reconstructing the Tree of Life for Plants" and "Origins and Evolution of Plant Complex Signal Regulatory Networks."

Research Contributions:
Professor Zhong Bojian has long been engaged in the study of plant environmental adaptation and evolutionary genomics. He has established a phylogenetic framework for the early tree of life of green plants, revealing the coupling relationship between the origin and evolution of green plants and the evolution of Earth's atmospheric environment. His work has elucidated the molecular basis of green algae adapting to complex environments. The cross-scale integrated analytical framework developed in his research provides a reference for resolving the phylogenetic relationships among major green plant groups and the origins of key traits. By coupling molecular clock dating with paleoclimate evolution analysis, his strategies have set new benchmarks for deciphering the mechanisms of adaptive radiation in green plants during critical turning points in biogeochemical cycles. These achievements have revolutionized traditional approaches in molecular systematics, not only solving key puzzles in green plant evolution but also establishing a new paradigm for understanding the fundamental laws of co-evolution between life and the environment.
